Burning Up the Home Stretch

I've reached the home stretch now! I didn't work on this since Sunday but I did fire up my burners tonight and got a little bit more done.

Now, I just have a tiny bit more to do.

I will be working on another piece today that is due by the end of today for tomorrow. I wont reveal it until it is finished and the post is up.

Remember this post about the Blogspot Comment Areas?

Thanks to "SimplyTwisted" It seems that the problem can be solved by going to: Settings/Comments/Comment Form Placement/Then choose pop up window or full page, do not select "embedded below post".

The embedded part seems to be the culprit. So, if you have that type of comment area set up on your blog and haven't seen any replies for awhile, check your settings to see if you have that selected. If you do, select either full page or pop up and see if that makes a difference. I believe it will. :)

All for now, tons to do! Have a great day!

Burnt Paper Progress

Last night I burned for a few hours and this is where we're at now, Sunday morning.
I decided against just having her hair hanging down and instead have started to put a crown of twigs and little flowers on her head. She is also wearing two feathers.

Once the burning is complete on this card, I'll be adding light touches of color here and there in about the same way as I did "Serendipity" below.

All for now! Have a great day everyone!

Burnt Paper

I'm burning paper now, trying to finish up the lost work that I just found in the previous post.

I worked on it late last night and it's coming along nicely. I'm not sure yet what I am going to do with her hair, but the ferns are there to stay. :)

I'm going to be burning for the next few hours so, I'll be sure to post an update to this card tomorrow.

Ghosts Maybe?

ACEO Pyro Progress, originally uploaded by avision4.

I don't know how it happened...but, I'm so thrilled to have found it again! The art card I was working on around 10 months ago, according to Flickr dates, showed up on, actually, in my desk yesterday!

Somewhere along the line I put it on the small shelf with my CDs, just above my burning system. Then it vanished! *GASP* Of course, I forgot all about it, since I have AADD (Artist Attention Deficit Disorder) and have so many different projects going at once.

I was looking for something else and found it inside the desk's cupboard along with my copier paper. I had totally forgotten about this card! I'm going to try and finish burnng it this weekend. So excited!

Reproductions are Back!

WooHoo! Today I received a notice telling me I am the featured artist on "A World of Creativity" blog!

Please do stop by and check it out. While you're there, be sure to check out the author Ronalyn's other blog and her Etsy shop too.

Reproductions are back!
I've been getting some of my original art cards printed into limited edition reproductions and should have them posted over the next week in my Etsy shop. The first one to be listed will be "Soul Crossing". The original was created by burning (pyrography) on watercolor paper and is available in my shop. There will only be 20 reproductions of this card made available. Grab one while you can!

The miniature gourds I grew last summer are now ready to be made into miniature vases, bowls, and more. So, watch for those to be introduced as well.

We are getting closer to finalizing our move now. It sure is a long, drawn-out process. I think one of the things that makes it so difficult, is that a few years ago, I told myself we were going to stay put this time. I should've known better....there is always going to be another beautiful, mysterious place I want, and long, to see. :)

All for now,
Have a great week!

Burnt Symbols

My latest pyroengraved Art Card has been completed!

I started out with a simple Celtic design without any insight as to where I wanted to go from there. I may be burning the edges all around this card to give it a more finished look. Other than that, it is done. :) The entire design on this card has been done by pyroengraving onto 140lb. watercolor paper.

Many beautiful sepia tones can be achieved by burning on paper...the additional use of hatch marks, cross-hatch, and stippling can really add a lot more visual interest and depth to the work. As you probably have already figured out, burning is also a very unforgiving medium. Once you burn a mark onto your paper, it is there forever. :)

The time is 10:57 a.m. and it is already 81 degrees. They are calling for temps in the 90s today.

You may be wondering why I talk about our temps so often and weather in general. The area where I live usually is never this hot and we usually never have terrible storms that spout tornadoes. It seems that ever since 1991 (a summer where we saw many tornadoes) our weather has been changing drastically.

Our growing season usually was from end of May until September. Some years we still had snow on the ground near the end of May. Most years, we would get frost warnings in June. One year, when I was in grade school, we got snow on July 4th. Our supposedly normal temps for June were between mid 60's and upper 70's. Our winters lately have really been lacking in snowfall and this past winter we had hardly any snow at all. Our lack of snowfall can have terrible effects on the following summer months.

On the agenda for today is a new art card done with a medium I haven't used in awhile. That's all I am going to say on that, it's a surprise! :)

Oh and a leeeeetle reminder for all of you paranormal fans: It's Wednesday and that means Ghost Hunters is on tonight!

Have a creative day!

Oracle of Light

The end of May already! Can you believe it?

This is the "Oracle of Light" art card. It is pointillism done with pigmented inks on watercolor paper. The yellow on this card is not as intense as it appears. Saddly this is how my scanner scanned it. This picture was designed around one of my dreams.

Question of the day:

For all of you fellow blogspot bloggers out there I have another question that I can't find an answer to: With a moderated blog, how do you write the code so that you only have to moderate a person once, for their first comment post and then they can comment in the future without having to be moderated?

Holiday Weekend!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

My newest art card is nearly completed. I first loosely sketched my idea onto the paper and then burned it. I don't know what drove me to this design, but I like it a lot. I should be able to finish it by the end of today. :)

This weekend will be a nice, relaxing one. There seems to be a lot of good movies on TV so I will probably be creating in my shop with some good old movies on in the background.

Have a creative day!
