Ready for Winter?

Temperatures are dropping steadily, rain is coming more frequently and one of these days, not too long from now, the rain will become snow.
It's been a busy time behind the bushes in the Twisted Thicket these days, getting ready for the long winter ahead! I have many new things to show you that will be making their appearance in my Etsy shop begining on Wednesday, October 1! I may give you all a sneak peek here on my blog tomorrow.
You know how we are supposed to be moving to AZ? We still are planning to, however, it seems that the forces that be are working against us for some reason. Everytime we start to make headway, something happens to delay us once again. This pattern holds true still to this day.
This weekend, my car bit the dust. Not an accident, although it could have resulted in one. On Saturday, my car was running fine until I went to leave the parking lot of Pets Plus (where I get my dog food). I got in the car, started it up, and the motor sounded horrible--sputtering, choking, and not wanting to idle at all. This store is quite a few miles from our house that we get to by taking a back road through the woods. Not able to go over 25 mph, we finally made it home. The people on the road (hilly & many curves) behind me were not too happy and I tried to stay on the shoulder as much as possible. So many times I thought my car was going to die right out. We finally made it home though and my car's been sitting in the driveway ever since.
I've narrowed it down to a couple things: the computer or the fuel pump may be shot. If it is the fuel pump, it will be less expensive to fix. If it is the computer...well let's hope it is the fuel pump. *sigh*
So, here we sit. No public transportation, and everything is a good ways away from where we live. I cannot believe how many things have been going wrong lately...yet we are still hanging in there! :)
I'm off to the bushes to work on some more goodies for you all!
Have a great day!!

Question

Healthwise, I will not be able to handle another long, cold, sunless winter here. Time is running out. [picture is of my huge pine trees and my yard]

If you and your child were going to move over 2,000 miles from where you are now, and you need to cut costs quite a bit to ensure that you make it there, what would you really NEED to keep?

What things would you have no problem getting rid of?

These questions are on my mind quite a bit. We should've been moved by now, but sadly, we are still here. This is almost begining to seem impossible. For everytime I think we're just about able to go, something else comes up and we are delayed yet again. :( Not sure how much longer I can keep this up.

So, how would you do it? What would you do?

Reproductions are Back!

WooHoo! Today I received a notice telling me I am the featured artist on "A World of Creativity" blog!

Please do stop by and check it out. While you're there, be sure to check out the author Ronalyn's other blog and her Etsy shop too.

Reproductions are back!
I've been getting some of my original art cards printed into limited edition reproductions and should have them posted over the next week in my Etsy shop. The first one to be listed will be "Soul Crossing". The original was created by burning (pyrography) on watercolor paper and is available in my shop. There will only be 20 reproductions of this card made available. Grab one while you can!

The miniature gourds I grew last summer are now ready to be made into miniature vases, bowls, and more. So, watch for those to be introduced as well.

We are getting closer to finalizing our move now. It sure is a long, drawn-out process. I think one of the things that makes it so difficult, is that a few years ago, I told myself we were going to stay put this time. I should've known better....there is always going to be another beautiful, mysterious place I want, and long, to see. :)

All for now,
Have a great week!

Relocating the Thicket

Well, good grief, it has been quite awhile since I blogged. I lost total track of time.

Things are very hectic these days. We are moving to Southeast Arizona, hopefully within the next few weeks. It all depends on how much I can raise between now and then.

We are getting rid of everything that we don't need on a daily basis....or at least trying to. That is a task that is much easier said than done. I should probably blog about my moving experience. Who knows, it could be interesting, and probably might even be a bit funny.

I am not an amature when it comes to moving, although I will say this; this time around it is the first time I have ever moved with my children, across the continent by ourselves. My children include one human child, and two carnivores: my puppy, and the cat who is, by his own admission...the Alpha Male of our group. The lack of front claws, does not mean in any way that he is less of a feline king.

That's all for now, I have more sorting to do. I hope you will enjoy reading about our impending relocation.
